Fitness Question of the Day 12.19.2010

Question:
I probably know the answer to this, but I’m gonna ask anyway – What exactly are processed foods? Are we just talking canned foods? Pre-packed plates? Chips & candy? Folashade A., New York, NY

Answer:
You do know the answer, in part. Processed foods are those that have been altered from their original states. Canned foods? Processed. Pre-packaged meals? Processed. Chips? Processed. Packaged Candy? Processed. But so too is spinach in the grocers’ freezers section. And Milk? Most likely processed via pasteurization. Dried apples in the natural health market via dehydration. The “processed” list goes on to include other food stuffs that you might not have previously considered! It is not all bad, just as it is not all good.
